Dr. Thornton is a Board-Certified Dermatologist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.  She grew up in Hampton, Virginia and attended Mary Washington College where she graduated cum laude.  Dr. Thornton attended the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University where she received her medical degree in 1979.  She completed Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in 1981.  Dr. Thornton then completed her Dermatology Residency as Chief Resident at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in 1984.  She has practiced Dermatology in Richmond since that time.  Prior to joining Affiliated Dermatologists of Virginia, she practiced Dermatology with Virginia Physicians, Inc.  Dr. Thornton was featured in an article published in "Richmond Magazine" in 2006.  She practices adolescent and adult General and Medical Dermatology.
