  • Shelley Hoover
    M.D., PH.D., F.A.A.D., RETIRED

    Dr. Hoover is a Board-Certified Dermatologist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD). She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado. She then earned a Master’s Degree and PhD from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado, majoring in Microbiology and Immunology. She moved to Richmond, Virginia to complete postdoctorate research focusing on T-cell immunology research in organ transplantation, breast cancer and melanoma. Dr. Hoover has published numerous scientific articles based upon this research. She graduated in 1994 with a Medical Doctorate. Dr. Hoover completed her Internship in Medicine and Dermatology Residency at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University. She has practiced Dermatology in Richmond since that time. She continues her interest in immune mechanisms of skin diseases and melanoma and practices adult and pediatric General, Medical, Surgical and Cosmetic Dermatology including Botox, fillers and chemical peels. She recently won the “Patient’s Choice Award” for excellence in Dermatology, is frequently listed as one of Richmond’s “Top Docs” in Richmond Magazine, has been quoted in local magazines, and is a featured physician on the Henrico County Video, “More Than Skin Deep, our Most Common Skin Cancers”, which can be viewed on HCTV.

  • Julie Thao Tran
    M.D., F.A.A.D.

    Dr. Tran is a Board-Certified Dermatologist and Dermatologic Surgeon. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Tran obtained both her undergraduate degree as an Echols Scholar, and her medical degree with Alpha Omega Alpha honor from the University of Virginia. At the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Tran completed her Internal Medicine Internship and Dermatology Residency. Dr. Tran’s final year of Residency was distinguished by her appointment as Chief Resident. Dr. Tran has published many articles and given several national presentations on different dermatologic diseases. She was previously associated with Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery in Miami, Florida. Dr. Tran practices both adult and pediatric dermatology. She also specializes in dermatologic and cosmetic surgery including Botox, fillers, chemical peels, sclerotherapy, and laser therapy.

  • Diem N. Wu
    M.D., F.A.A.D.

    Dr. Wu is a Board-Certified Dermatologist and Dermatologic Surgeon. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She received both her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Virginia, where she was an Echols Scholar and member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her Internal Medicine Internship and Dermatology Residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

    Dr. Wu then worked as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where she published many articles and taught Dermatology residents and medical students. Dr. Wu practices both adult and pediatric dermatology and is interested in medical and surgical dermatology.

  • Donna Hepper
    M.D., F.A.A.D.

    Dr. Hepper grew up in Columbus, Ohio. She attended the University of Virginia for her undergraduate degree and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. She then completed medical school at Vanderbilt University as a Canby Robinson Scholar and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her dermatology residency at Washington University in Saint Louis, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Hepper then went on to complete additional training as a fellow in dermatopathology. Dr. Hepper was chosen by Style Weekly’s online voters for “Top Meds” for Dermatology in 2020.

    She is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and has authored numerous scientific journal articles and book chapters. Her interests include general, medical, cosmetic dermatology as well as dermatopathology.

  • Brooke Wehausen
    D.O., F.A.A.D.

    Dr. Wehausen is a Board-Certified Dermatologist. Dr. Wehausen grew up in Southern Maryland in a suburban town outside of Washington, D.C. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Dr. Wehausen continued her education in Blacksburg, Virginia where she graduated from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school and completed her Traditional Rotating Internship at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery.
    Dr. Wehausen completed her dermatology residency at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she served as chief resident. During her residency, Dr. Wehausen trained under the tutelage of Dr. Carlos Nousari, who is an internationally acclaimed leader in the fields of immunodermatology and connective tissue diseases. Dr. Wehausen was also trained by a leading expert in the field of dermoscopy, or skin surface microscopy, a non-invasive method used for early detection of skin cancers. While training in South Florida, Dr. Wehausen diagnosed and managed a vast array of dermatologic conditions in a diverse patient population in multiple clinical settings including Broward Health Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic Florida, and the Veterans Affairs Hospital in West Palm Beach.
    In her spare time, Dr. Wehausen enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching Virginia Tech football (Go Hokies!), and relaxing at Smith Mountain Lake.
    Dr. Wehausen is thrilled to join Affiliated Dermatologists of Virginia and provide medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatologic services to patients of all ages and skin types.

  • Erica Brotzman
    D.O. , F.A.A.D.

    Dr. Brotzman is a Board Certified Dermatologist. Dr. Brotzman was born and raised in Richmond, VA and is excited to return to her hometown to practice dermatology.  She obtained her undergraduate BS degree in Biology from University of Richmond and then completed a graduate certificate program at Virginia Commonwealth University.  For medical school, she graduated first in her class from Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Buies Creek, North Carolina.  

    Dr. Brotzman completed her internship and dermatology residency at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio which is a dually-accredited MD/DO training program.  During her training, she served as Osteopathic Chief Resident and Wellness Chief Resident.  She was also awarded the Osteopathic Dermatology Research Award for her publications.  

    Through the Case Western/UH Cleveland training program in affiliation with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center of Cleveland, Dr. Brotzman received exposure to a broad spectrum of dermatologic conditions, from simple to complex.  She was trained by experts in the fields of cutaneous lymphoma, psoriasis and dermatologic surgery.  

    Outside of work, Dr. Brotzman enjoys doing crossword puzzles with her family and cuddling with her Maltese/Shih-Tzu mix, Charlie.  She likes watching football with friends, and after her time in Ohio, now roots for the Cleveland Browns.  Whenever she gets the chance, she loves to relax in Emerald Isle, NC.  

    Dr. Brotzman is proud to be joining the exceptional Affiliated Dermatologists of Virginia team where she practices general, surgical and cosmetic dermatology.  

  • BRITTONY BLAKEY, D.O., F.A.A.D.

    Dr. Blakey is a Board-Certified Dermatologist and Dermatologic Surgeon. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Blakey obtained her undergraduate degree from Ohio University and her osteopathic medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she was a member and Vice President of Sigma Sigma Phi Honors Fraternity.

    After graduating medical school, she started her tour as an active duty Army Medical Officer. She completed her Internship and Dermatology Residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Dr. Blakey then went on to serve the remainder of her military commitment as a staff dermatologist at Martin Army Hospital in Fort Benning, Georgia. There she held positions as Chief of the Department of Dermatology and Chief of the Department of Medicine. Dr. Blakey was Adjunct Faculty for the Academy of Health Sciences and received numerous awards for her precepting and teaching of the physician assistant students, medical students and Family Medicine Residents. She was the recipient of a Meritorious Service Medal, two Army Achievement Medals, Army Superior Unit Award, Commanders Coin for Excellence, Commandant of Cadets Coin for Excellence and numerous service ribbons.

    Dr. Blakey practices both adult and pediatric dermatology. She specializes in dermatologic and cosmetic surgery including skin cancer surgery, elective skin surgery, Botox, fillers, chemical peels, sclerotherapy, and laser surgery.

  • Scott Bukoski
    M.D.

    Dr. Bukoski grew up on the shores of Cape Cod but fell in love with the Richmond area during medical school at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine. Before attending VCU, he earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from Johns Hopkins University, followed by a Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University. After graduating from medical school, he completed a general medicine internship at Geisinger Health System in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, and subsequently finished his dermatology residency training at Brown University.

    Specializing in inflammatory skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema, Dr. Bukoski offers advanced treatments tailored to each patient's unique needs. His expertise extends to skin cancer evaluation, surgical procedures, and cosmetic enhancements such as Botox, fillers, lasers, and chemical peels. Whether patients prioritize skin health, require specialized treatment, or have aesthetic goals, Dr. Bukoski aims to deliver exceptional results with precision and compassion.

    Dr. Bukoski believes in empowering patients through education and collaboration, ensuring they are well-informed and actively engaged in their treatment journey. His patient-centered approach emphasizes personalized care, where every individual receives the attention and support they deserve.
